When my parents moved to North Carolina, they shocked everyone by purchasing a severe macaw as a pet in their new home. Little did we know that two years later, they would have eight birds (ranging from a parakeet to two macaws), a kitchen full of bird cages, and a house completely overrun by their new feathered friends.

There are enemies and allies among the birds, but all of them love Kiwi, the conure on the right who is getting her face washed by Lily, the parakeet they found flying in their backyard. Kiwi currently has a huge duct tape “cast” on her foot (as you can see) as she recovers from accidentally getting it caught in the door. The “cast” has to be huge so that she doesn’t chew it off and pick off the scab as it heals.
