I wish there had been nice skies during my visit, but with such a horrible pollution problem, I wonder how often there actually are nice skies in Beijing. We saw horrible smog the entire time we were there. We could even see it indoors at night in places like the airport. Lonely Planet says that "health experts warn that breathing the Beijing air could be the equivalent of smoking 70 cigarettes a day." Don’t think that tidbit wasn’t lost on me each and every day I spent breathing in that air. Fortunately, most of what I wanted to see was outside of Beijing, so I only spent a few days in the city on my trip.
