The Jade Market is usually open on weekends year round, with the exception of the New Year’s holidays when it is open daily in the days preceding and following New Year’s day. When the market is not open, the vast space underneath the freeway entrance is used as a parking lot. I went today hoping to visit the Jade Market and the Flower Market just across the street, but was disappointed to find that the Flower Market was closed. In preparation for New Year’s, the Flower Market isn’t only open daily, but also 24 hours a day, so after New Year’s day, they take time to rest and be with family. I’m hoping to visit again on Saturday, the day before I leave to get some photographs.
