Jiufen, Taiwan
November 13, 2006
Editing these photos made my mouth water. Taiwan has such a culture of snack foods (the name of which literally translates to mean “little eat”), it’s amazing. Popular are glutinous rice snacks of all varieties. Prior to this visit over a year ago, I don’t think I’d seen this particular variety before. The clear rice outside was very slightly sweet and the insides were flavored, a different flavor for each color. If I remember correctly, going from front to back, we have red bean, green tea, taro, strawberry, honeydew, and pineapple.
