I’ve photographed the fireworks in the past from the street level. I’ve always wanted to photograph the fireworks from Yerba Buena Island, but didn’t really know how to get to a good spot on the island. This year, I went with some folks in the know. We got there early to stake out our spots and then watched the fog rolling in over the city with apprehension. When the show started just after 9pm, we were sad to realize that much of the fireworks were happening up in the fog and most of the rest of them were obscured by the smoke from the fireworks themselves. This was about as good as it got. Most of my pictures look like storm pictures instead of fireworks pictures. It was worth a shot, though, and we certainly made a valiant effort.
